Embracing Transformation: How to Let Go of Old Versions of You
Three years ago, I embarked on a profound journey of emotional and spiritual healing. It has been a path of deep introspection, transformation, and connection. Over time, I built a relationship with my Soul that I hold sacred, realizing that my connection to Soul is also my connection to Source and my intuition. But in the past six months, I began to feel disconnected, and that worried me. I feared I was drifting away from the very essence that has guided me so faithfully.

Understanding Personal Transformation
Then, during a recent meditation, I finally heard my Soul’s voice again. It reassured me: We are still connected. But now, it is time for you to move forward and physically manifest the things you came here to do.
That message struck me deeply. For months, I had been procrastinating, unsure whether fear, self-doubt, or lack of confidence was holding me back. But as I continued to reflect, I came across a message online that resonated on a soul-deep level: Stepping into a new chapter requires disconnecting from the previous versions of yourself that got you to where you are today, but can no longer take you forward.
The realization hit me with overwhelming emotion. I wept as I came face to face with the past versions of myself—the fearless woman who moved to Washington, DC on an intuitive nudge, the woman who committed to healing from the past, who paid off her student loans, who traveled solo, who bought homes, who took her mother to Spain for her 70th birthday. The woman who became an aunt, attended spiritual retreats, released relationships rooted in people-pleasing, navigated therapy, took a career break when the pandemic overwhelmed her, and discovered self-care tools like painting, yoga, meditation, and solo travel.
Each of these versions of me played a role in bringing me to this very moment. And yet, my Soul was now calling me to step into the woman I am meant to become. I resisted at first because I didn’t want to leave her behind. I owe her everything. But then, in the stillness, I heard her voice. She was encouraging me, cheering me on: Everything I’ve done has been for this moment. It’s time.
This was the missing piece. I had been procrastinating because, subconsciously, I didn’t want to let go. But now, I understand: transformation requires release. To fully step into the woman my Soul is calling me to be, I must honor, thank, and release the versions of myself that have brought me here. I cannot bring them with me, and that’s okay.

Lessons from This Journey:
- Honor Your Past Selves – Reflect on the versions of yourself that have shaped your journey. Acknowledge their efforts, experiences, and wisdom.
- Recognize When It’s Time to Move Forward – Growth often requires a shedding process. Trust when your Soul nudges you toward change.
- Allow Yourself to Grieve the Old You – Letting go is emotional. It’s okay to feel sadness, gratitude, and nostalgia all at once.
- Embrace the Unknown with Trust – The next version of you requires faith. Step forward with courage, even if the path isn’t fully clear.
- Take Aligned Action – Move forward with intention. What is Soul calling you to do? Start small, but start.
Actionable Tips for Your Journey:
- Write a letter to your past self – Thank her for all she has done. Give her permission to rest, knowing she has served her purpose.
- Create a symbolic ritual of release – This could be burning old journal pages, a nature walk where you speak your gratitude aloud, or a meditation focused on transition.
- Visualize your next chapter – Who are you becoming? What does she do daily? How does she carry herself? Start embodying her now.
- Surround yourself with reminders of your growth – Whether it’s books, podcasts, or conversations, immerse yourself in support that aligns with your next level.

Final Thoughts on Embracing Transformation
This journey of release and rebirth is not easy, but it is necessary. If you, too, feel like you are standing on the precipice of transformation, know that it is safe to let go. The past versions of you are not lost; they are integrated, their wisdom forever a part of you. And now, it’s time to step forward.
Who is the woman your Soul is calling you to become? It’s time to meet her.
